Data Handling: Choice of Graphs by Colin Tan

Line graphs are used to represent continuous motion, like rising or falling actions, not solid whole numbers. There is no telling to the values along the line itself, unlike the other graphs, with solid units to represent them.

    To elaborate further, one of the axis in line graphs is usually related to time.
